Luke Skywalker (Farmboy)

Luke Skywalker (Farmboy) Kenner 1977 Blonde Hair Version

The Kenner Luke Skywalker “Farmboy” action figure, released in 1977, was part of the original 12 back card set to support the “Star Wars: A New Hope” movie. It was one of the first action figures in the Kenner Vintage Collection and retailed for $1.99. This particular figure, depicting Luke as a farmboy on Tatooine, became an iconic piece among collectors. The term “farmboy” was used by collectors to distinguish between the various Luke Skywalker figures released over time.

The figure first appeared as part of the Early Bird Certificate Package during Christmas 1977 in the US. The Early Bird Certificate was a unique promotion by Kenner to cope with the unexpected demand for “Star Wars” toys, which allowed customers to receive the figures by mail once they were produced. Although initially released in 1978 with the Early Bird Certificate Package, the Luke “Farmboy” action figure was later sold on the 12-back cards, which were the first series of card backs that Kenner used for their “Star Wars” action figures.

This figure is highly collectible, made of durable plastic, and is a beloved piece of “Star Wars” memorabilia. It represents the humble beginnings of the character who would eventually become a central figure in the “Star Wars” saga.

Luke would come with either a Single Piece Lightsaber or the much rarer Double Telescoping Lightsaber.
